We won the Dean Carole Robasciottie Outstanding Community Service Learning Award!. It is one of the awards given at the Aztec Achievement Awards ceremony which honors students/faculty/student organizations that have contributed a lot to the university and the surrounding community. The following speech was given:
"This award is named after Carole Robasciotti, the beloved retired Assistant Dean for Student Affairs in the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts. Dean Robasciotti dedicated 25 years of service to the SDSU community. She put this belief into practice when she served for 13 years as the Director of the National City Middle School Partnership. Because of her fine example, this award is given to someone who enhances student learning and civic responsibility through active scholarly and practical involvement in service learning.
This year's recipient is committed to the welfare to the welfare of the community. In just this past year, members of this organization have volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Village; hosted a booth for children at the Lantern Festival; held a fundraiser for a family facing foreclosure; coordinated a Big Brother/Big Sister event at Franklin Elementary School; and were able to collect 216 pounds of supplies to partner with Invisible Children, the Special Olympics and the San Diego Oceans Foundation. For all these contributions, this year's Dean Carole Robasciotti Outstanding Community Service Learning Award goes to Delta Sigma Pi."
Iota Pi Chapter featured in Daily Aztec!

The Iota Pi Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi was, again, featured in the Daily Aztec for putting on a fashion to show as a fundraiser for the Monarch School, which "is located in downtown San Diego, and is committed to providing homeless and at-risk children with education while caring for their basic needs." Here is a little clip:
"Long catwalks, bright lights and high fashion are common features of any fashion show, but at tonight's "GOLD: For the Fierce & Fabulous," San Diego State models will strut their stuff to raise money for the homeless.
The American Marketing Association, Philanthro Productions and Delta Sigma Pi will host the event at 10 p.m. at the Prospect Bar and Lounge in downtown La Jolla to raise money for the Monarch School."

The Iota Pi Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi was, again, featured in the Daily Aztec for being one of three organizations that helped raised funds for the Under One Roof Campaign. Here is a little clip:
"After talking to Ervin and Dr. Stark, I found out that the best way to really help people down there was to help one specific family, and I was all for it," Martel said.
Hernandez said about 15 items donated by student organizations, such as the International Students Association, the SDSU Ambassadors and Delta Sigma Pi, will be auctioned off, including a basket featuring five award-winning international films, tickets to the San Diego Zoo, surf apparel and a surfing lesson at the Mission Bay Aquatic Center and tickets to a dinner cruise on the Hornblower. There will also be a separate donation jar for those who don't want to bid on anything but still want to contribute."

The Iota Pi Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi was, again, featured in the Daily Aztec for hosting a speaker series which informed students how saving can pay in the future. Here is a little clip:
"The rent is due. The credit card bills are piling up. The car payment is late.
It's a stressful situation when San Diego State students have to find a way to pay their bills each month and not get caught up in debt.
Recognizing this problem, Delta Sigma Phi , SDSU's coed professional business fraternity, co-hosted a speaker series with the San Diego Chapter of the Financial Planning Association titled "Money in Your Future" on Monday at Casa Real in Aztec Center."
** The Daily Aztec was informed that it was Delta Sigma Pi that, in fact, hosted the speaker series rather than Delta Sigma Phi.
