Shivani was born and raised in Laguna Beach, California where she attended El Toro High School. During her sophomore year of high school Shivani was a Teen Volunteer at the El Toro Public Library. As a volunteer she read to elementary school children, tutored students from first grade to ninth grade and helped coordinate the annual summer reading program. As she began to realize her passion for helping others, she decided to become a volunteer at Saddleback Medical Center. Shivani performed delivery services and ran errands for all departments of the medical center. Her favorite task was delivering flowers to new moms and their babies at the Women’s Hospital. During her senior year of high school Shivani started working at Hollister Co. as a Brand Representative. She assisted customers in a positive and welcoming attitude, which made her love working at the store. Shivani eventually became the first Sales Lead at her store and is currently still working for the company. Not being sure about her major at the time and the financial aspsects of college, Shivani thought it would be best to attend a community college first and then transfer to a university. She switched from being a writing major her first year to a Business Marketing major her second. Marketing was the perfect choice for her since it combined her love for business, writing, and creativity. At her community college Shivani was involved in Student Government. Being the Public Relations Representative for two years, she designed and posted advertisements about campus events on social media networks and worked with the Marketing department to positively expand the school’s brand. Along with student government, Shivani was involved in the Green Team, a club focusing on sustainable efforts and eco-friendly practices. She performed beach, campus, and community cleanups as well as researched and analyzed products that would lead to energy-efficient and low-carbon alternatives to better the campus. Lastly, at Irvine Valley Community College Shivani was involved in the Feminist club, where she discussed the importance of women’s rights and their significance in the working field and society. Currently, Shivani is a junior at SDSU, involved in the Women in Business Club and Delta Sigma Pi. Post-graduation Shivani hopes to create her own company for sustainable fashion and eventually become a professor for Marketing or Business Communications. In her free time you can find Shivani riding some waves, binge-watching Gossip Girl, or taking over her roommate’s closet.
