Sameen Maali was born in Glendale, California but spent most of her life in San Diego where she attended Canyon Crest Academy. During high school, she was involved with the swim & dive team which helped her develop various team-working skills. While at CCA, Sameen also discovered her passion for photography and began her own photography business where she had the privilege to create authentic relationships with clients. She had the opportunity to create and retouch photos for senior portraits, prom, baby showers, a Quinceañera, marketing materials for Harry’s Bar & American Grill, etc. In her junior year of high school, she volunteered at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla which sparked her interest to help others. After graduating high school, she was unsure what path she wanted to take. She attended Miramar & MiraCosta community college and took classes which helped her discover her passion for business. In her 5+ years of work experience in the restaurant industry, Sameen was able to accrue various skills involving interpersonal communication and conflict resolution which inspired her to want to work in the human side of business- Human Resource Management. This past fall, Sameen transferred to San Diego State University to pursue a degree in Management, with an emphasis in Human Resource Management. She pledged Delta Sigma Pi as part of the Gamma Pi pledge class in order to find a sense of belonging at SDSU and to hone her professional skills. She currently works as a server at California Native, but is looking to obtain an internship that will allow her to immerse into the professional world, to gain valuable knowledge in the business work environment, and meet professional role models. In her free time, Sameen enjoys going to the gym, spending time with friends and family, and traveling.
