Ryan Mitchell is originally from San Diego, California, although as a teenager he moved with his family to a small town in central Illinois, where he spent the remainder of his middle and high school years. After high school, Ryan decided to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps in order to be a part of something bigger than himself and to follow a family tradition of military service. After completing his initial training, Ryan was assigned to his first unit: the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment based out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Soon after being stationed there, he was sent overseas for 9 months to a handful of countries across the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. Eventually, Ryan decided to get out of the military in order to pursue a higher education and to be closer to his family back in San Diego. He was honorably discharged in March 2015. Ryan started college during the Fall 2015 semester at San Diego Mesa College, transferring to SDSU during Spring 2018. Originally a Computer Science major, Ryan switched to MIS when he realized that a business degree was a better fit for him, but still wanted his studies to focus on tech, a lifelong interest of his. Ryan pledged Delta Sigma Pi in the Fall of 2018 in order to become more involved on campus and to once again contribute to something bigger than himself. Currently, he holds an internship at SDG&E where he works as a Cybersecurity Analyst. In his free time, he enjoys reading, hitting the gym, surfing, hiking, or doing essentially anything outdoors.
