“In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on.” ― Robert Frost
Major: Management Information Systems
Pledge Class: Gamma Omicron
Marion Tiik was born and raised in Tallinn, Estonia and moved to San Diego for college. Since she was 5 years old, she has been involved with sports, most importantly rhythmic gymnastics and dance. As Estonia is very IT-oriented, Marion realized the importance and potential of technology from a young age. This is also why she took programming classes in high school and learned a few programming languages. However, during that time she also realized that programming was not really the right fit for her and decided instead to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. This decision led Marion to San Diego, a city she had fallen in love with years prior, and to San Diego State University. Marion started as a Human Resource major but soon realized that she had devoted too much from her original passion – technology. So, she decided to change her major to Management Information Systems. She also knew that she wanted to be more involved on campus, so she decided to follow in her roommate’s footsteps and join Delta Sigma Pi. Marion pledged the fraternity during the spring semester of her sophomore year as part of the Gamma Omicron Pledge Class. During pledging, she was a member of both the fundraising and professional activities committees. Currently, Marion is working as a data entry assistant at KPBS. In her free time, Marion likes to watch movies and television shows, spend time with friends, cook and read books. As an ex-dancer, she still likes to stay active, both by going to the gym as well as hiking with friends and family. One of her favorite places in San Diego is the dog beach at Ocean Beach, where she often goes with her dog.
