What to Expect
Recruitment events allow you to come experience a sample of the events we hold all year long. It allows you to meet our members, and to see if our organization is something you would like to be a part of. For many this first step of showing up at an event where you might not know anyone, or very few people can be awkward.
Our members understand that and we do our best to make sure you feel comfortable, and we give you the opportunity to get to know our members. You will probably recognize many of our members from your classes, and other organizations around campus, so it’s very rare for people to come to an event and not know anyone at all.
What Recruiting Events Should You Attend?
We encourage you to make any event your first event, but we recommend you come to as many events as possible. These events serve two purposes, for you to get to know the fraternity, and the fraternity members gets to know you.
Who Gets to Pledge?
From the people that attend our recruitment events our chapter selects the pledge class, and offers invitations to the most positive candidates. Our fraternity looks for involved students that are positive and enthusiastic.
What to Expect while Pledging
From the prospective members that show up to recruiting events the fraternity then selects who will be offered invitations to pledge the fraternity. All those that accept the invitation to pledge will be placed into a pledge class. Pledging starts around the 4th week of school and continues for approximately 8 weeks, completing before finals. During this period pledges will be introduced to new friends and fraternity members and pledges, as a group, will emulate the chapter by putting together events. Events including:
- Professional Events – The pledge class as a whole will coordinate at least one professional event (speaker, corporate tour, etc) of their choice.
- Community Service – The pledge class as a whole will plan a community service project of their choice.
- Fundraising Event - The pledge class is expected to support itself, like the chapter does, through fundraising. Fundraising will cover expenses incurred by the pledge class while putting on events.
- Social Event – The pledge class plans a party that takes place near the end of pledging to celebrate their achievements.
What Kind of Time Commitment Is This?
This is a very common question asked by students that attend our recruiting events, and the general response is that the pledging process is the equivalent of taking a 3 unit class. But the time commitment is largely based on how efficiently the pledge and pledge class can operate. Most of our pledges have maintained good grades, and held a job while pledging.

Seems a Little Overwhelming?
The process can seem a little overwhelming at first but the fraternity is there to help the pledge class succeed. The pledge program is very structured and spread out through the 8 weeks. The work is worth the reward at the end of the pledge process and many have found a lot of close friends that participate in a common cause.
